RESUMO

Ensuring the integrity, safety, and compliance of oil pipelines is crucial for operators. Two significant factors affecting pipeline integrity are metal loss due to corrosion or air gouging and the presence of cracks. This paper introduces an X-ray backscatter nondestructive testing model on a smart pig(an intelligent robot) for internal inspection of petroleum pipelines. The paper investigates the X-ray source and detection system, essential components of the backscatter imaging technology, to provide technical guidance for model design. The imaging system's layout is modeled using GEANT4, and its performance in detecting defects of various formats on pipe walls is studied. The research demonstrates the feasibility of using X-ray backscatter imaging for pipeline inspection and provides insights into different defect detection. The findings contribute to designing and optimizing the robot's scanning head for effective pipeline inspection.

Fusobacterium necrophorum (F. necrophorum) infection is rare in pediatrics. In addition, the detection time of F. necrophorum by blood culture is long, and the positive rate is low. Infection with F. necrophorum bacilli usually follows rapid disease progression, resulting in high mortality. In previous reports of F. necrophorum-related cases, the most dangerous moment of the disease occurred after the appearance of Lemierre's syndrome. We report an atypical case of a 6-year-old female patient who developed septic shock within 24 h of admission due to F. necrophorum infection in the absence of Lemierre's syndrome. F. necrophorum was identified in a blood sample by metagenomics next-generation sequencing (mNGS) but not by standard blood culture. The patient was finally cured and discharged after receiving timely and effective targeted anti-infection treatment. In the present case study, it was observed that the heightened virulence and invasiveness of F. necrophorum contribute significantly to its role as a primary pathogen in pediatric septic shock. This can precipitate hemodynamic instability and multiple organ failure, even in the absence of Lemierre's syndrome. The use of mNGS can deeply and rapidly identify infectious pathogens, guide the use of targeted antibiotics, and greatly improve the survival rate of patients.

Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is a live strain of Mycobacterium bovis (M.bovis) for use as an attenuated vaccine to prevent tuberculosis (TB) infection, while it could also lead to an infection in immunodeficient patients. M.bovis could infect patients with immunodeficiency via BCG vaccination. Disseminated BCG disease (BCGosis) is extremely rare and has a high mortality rate. This article presents a case of a 3-month-old patient with disseminated BCG infection who was initially diagnosed with hemophagocytic syndrome (HPS) and eventually found to have X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency (X-SCID). M.bovis and its drug resistance genes were identified by metagenomics next-generation sequencing (mNGS) combined with targeted next-generation sequencing (tNGS) in blood and cerebrospinal fluid. Whole exome sequencing (WES) revealed a pathogenic variant in the common γ-chain gene (IL2RG), confirming X-SCID. Finally, antituberculosis therapy and umbilical cord blood transplantation were given to the patient. He was successfully cured of BCGosis, and his immune function was restored. The mNGS combined with the tNGS provided effective methods for diagnosing rare BCG infections in children. Their combined application significantly improved the sensitivity and specificity of the detection of M.bovis.

Background: Human adenovirus (HAdV) infections in children can lead to profound pulmonary injury and are frequently associated with severe complications, particularly in cases concomitant with plastic bronchitis. Managing this condition presents significant challenges and carries an exceptionally high fatality rate. Regrettably, there are currently no specific antiviral agents that have demonstrated efficacy in treating severe adenovirus pneumonia in children. Case presentation: We report a 10-month-old infant suffering from severe adenovirus pneumonia combined with plastic bronchitis (PB). He received intravenous ribavirin combined with recombinant human interferon α1b (INFα1b) aerosol inhalation and his condition eventually improved. No side effects occurred during the treatment, and the long-term prognosis was favorable. Conclusion: In this case, the combination therapy of intravenous ribavirin and INFα1b seems to have contributed to the resolution of illness and may be considered for similar cases until stronger evidence is generated.

Exophiala dermatitidis is a relatively common environmental black yeast with a worldwide distribution that rarely causes fungal infection. Here, we report a case of a 6-year-old girl with central nervous system (CNS) encephalitis caused by E. dermatitidis and Angiostrongylus cantonensis. E. dermatitidis was identified by both cerebrospinal fluid culture and metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS). Angiostrongylus cantonensis infection was confirmed by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Whole exome sequencing showed that this previously healthy girl carried a homozygous CARD9 mutation for c.820dupG (p.D274Gfs*61) that underlies invasive fungal and parasite infections. We chose glucocortieoid pulse therapy and anti-infective therapy based on the initial results of laboratory examination and cranial MRI images. With the aggravation of the disease and the evidence of the subsequent etiologic test, the combination of antifungal antiparasitic treatments (voriconazole, fluorocytosine and amphotericin B) were actively used. Unfortunately, the girl finally died due to severe systemic infection. mNGS performs a potential value for diagnosing rare CNS infections, and autosomal recessive CARD9 deficiency should be considered in patient with fatal invasive fungal infections.

BACKGROUND: Big data mining and experiments are widely used to mine new prognostic markers. METHODS: Candidate genes were identified from CROEMINE and FerrDb. Kaplan-Meier survival and Cox regression analysis were applied to assess the association of genes with Overall survival time (OS) and Disease-free survival time (DFS) in two HCC cohorts. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and Immunohistochemistry were performed in HCC samples. RESULTS: 21 and 15 genes that can predict OS and DFS, which had not been reported before, were identified from 719 genes, respectively. Survival analysis showed elevated mRNA expression of GLMP, SLC38A6, and WDR76 were associated with poor prognosis, and three genes combination signature was an independent prognostic factor in HCC. RT-qPCR and Immunohistochemistry confirmed the results. CONCLUSIONS: We established a novel computational process, which identified the expression levels of GLMP, SLC38A6, and WDR76 as potential ferroptosis-related biomarkers indicating the prognosis of HCC.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the clinical characteristics of children infected with the Omicron variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in Chengdu of China. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted for the clinical data of 226 children who were infected with the Omicron variant of SARS-Cov-2 and were isolated and treated in Chengdu Shelter Hospital from August 28 to September 21, 2022. According to the presence or absence of clinical symptoms, they were divided into two groups: asymptomatic group and mild symptomatic group. The two groups were compared in terms of clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment, and prognosis. RESULTS: Among the 226 children infected with the Omicron variant, 71 (31.4%) were asymptomatic and 155 (68.6%) had mild symptoms. Fever and cough were the most common clinical symptoms, with fever in 95 children (61.3%) and cough in 92 children (59.4%). Of all 226 children, 188 (83.2%) received coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination. The time to nucleic acid clearance ranged from 6 to 26 days, with a nucleic acid clearance rate of 58.0% (131/226). There were no significant differences among different age groups in sex, early symptoms, clinical typing, nucleic acid re-positive rate, nucleic acid clearance rate, and length of hospital stay (P>0.05). There were no significant differences between the asymptomatic and mild symptomatic groups in age, sex, underlying diseases, COVID-19 vaccination, use of Lianhua Qingwen granules, nucleic acid clearance rate, nucleic acid re-positive rate, and length of hospital stay (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Children infected with the Omicron variant of SARS-Cov-2 in Chengdu generally have mild clinical symptoms, mainly upper respiratory tract infection, which has little threat to the health of children of different ages, and children tend to have a good overall prognosis.

Many circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been identified to be associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression. We aim to explore the diagnostic potential, functions, and mechanism of circELMOD3 in HCC. Differentially expressed circRNAs in HCC and its paired adjacent tissues were identified by RNA sequencing. circELMOD3 was downregulated in HCC tissues and was related to clinicopathological characteristics of HCC patients. Additionally, plasma circELMOD3 was shown to be a highly sensitive and non-invasive biomarker to distinguish HCC from healthy controls. Functional assays showed that circELMOD3 inhibited proliferation and induced apoptosis of HCC cells both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, RNA antisense purification (RAP) and luciferase reporter assays verified that circELMOD3 functioned as a sponge for miR-6864-5p leading to increased expression of its target gene TRIM13. Interestingly, RNA stability test demonstrated that circELMOD3 overexpression led to enhanced stability of its directly bound TRIM13 mRNA, which in turn co-activated the p53 signaling pathway.

Accumulating evidence indicates that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are inextricably linked to cancer development. However, the function and mechanism of nucleus-localized circRNAs in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) still require investigation. Here, qRT-PCR and receiver-operating characteristic curve were used to detect the expression and diagnostic potential of circSLC39A5 for HCC. The biological function of circSLC39A5 in HCC was investigated in vitro and in vivo. Nucleoplasmic separation assay, fluorescence in situ hybridization, RNA pulldown, RNA immunoprecipitation, the HDOCK Server, the NucleicNet Webserver, crosslinking-immunoprecipitation, MG132 treatment, and chromatin immunoprecipitation were utilized to explore the potential molecular mechanism of circSLC39A5 in HCC. The results showed that circSLC39A5 was downregulated in both HCC tissues and plasma and was associated with satellite nodules and lymph node metastasis/vascular invasion. CircSLC39A5 was stably expressed in plasma samples under different storage conditions, showing good diagnostic potential for HCC (AUC = 0.915). CircSLC39A5 inhibited proliferation, migration, and invasion, facilitated the apoptosis of HCC cells, and was associated with low expression of Ki67 and CD34. Remarkably, circSLC39A5 is mainly localized in the nucleus and binds to the transcription factor signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1), affecting its stabilization and expression. STAT1 binds to the promoter of thymine DNA glycosylase (TDG). Overexpression of circSLC39A5 elevates TDG expression and reverses the increase of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression and the overactive cell proliferation caused by TDG silencing. Our findings uncovered a novel plasma circRNA, circSLC39A5, which may be a potential circulating diagnostic marker for HCC, and the mechanism by which nucleus-localized circSLC39A5 exerts a transcriptional regulatory role in HCC by affecting STAT1/TDG/PCNA provides new insights into the mechanism of circRNAs.

BACKGROUND: Many studies have shown that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are abnormally expressed in various tumor tissues and served as a key regulator in the occurrence and development of cancer. However, in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the molecular mechanism of circRNAs in body fluids remains to be further explored. METHODS: The expression levels of genes and proteins were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and western blotting, respectively. Cell counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), 5-Ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU), wound healing assay, Transwell assays, flow cytometry, and tumor formation models in nude mice were conducted to investigate the effects of circFAM114A2 on HCC cells both in vitro and in vivo. RNA antisense purification (RAP), dual luciferase reporter assays and rescue assays were carried out to verify the interaction between circFAM114A2, miR-630 and HHIP. RESULTS: CircFAM114A2 was significantly downregulated in HCC tissues and was associated with microvascular invasion and lymph node metastasis of HCC patients. We also observed that circFAM114A2 was lowly expressed in HCC plasma, which may serve as an effective biomarker to screen HCC patients from healthy controls (area under curve (AUC)=0.922). In vitro, circFAM114A2 overexpression significantly blunted HCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and promoted apoptosis, whereas circFAM114A2 silencing posed opposite effects. In vivo, circFAM114A2 overexpression inhibited the growth of HCC cells. Mechanistically, circFAM114A2 could increase the expression of the tumor suppressor HHIP via acting as a sponge for miR-630. CONCLUSIONS: CircFAM114A2 exerts a tumor suppressor role in HCC through miR-630/HHIP axis, and may be served as a potential diagnostic and therapeutic biomarker for HCC patients.

In this study, fresh lotus leaves at two maturity stages were processed to tea products by different methods (white-tea process, green-tea process and black-tea process). The volatile compounds, phytochemical profiles and antioxidant activities of lotus-leaf tea were investigated. A total of 81 volatile components were identified with HS-GC-IMS. The mature lotus-leaf tea showed more volatile compounds than the tender lotus-leaf tea. The lotus leaf treated with the white-tea process had more aroma components than other processing methods. In addition, six types of phenolic compounds, including luteolin, catechin, quercetin, orientin, hyperoside and rutin were identified in the lotus-leaf tea. The mature leaves treated with the green-tea process had the highest levels of TPC (49.97 mg gallic acid/g tea) and TFC (73.43 mg rutin/g tea). The aqueous extract of lotus-leaf tea showed positive scavenging capacities of DPPH and ABTS radicals, and ferric ion reducing power, whereas tender lotus leaf treated with the green-tea process exhibited the strongest antioxidant activity. What is more, the antioxidant activities had a significant positive correlation with the levels of TPC and TFC in lotus-leaf tea. Our results provide a theoretical basis for the manufacture of lotus-leaf-tea products with desirable flavor and health benefits.

Background: Hemophagocytic lymphocytosis (HLH) is a rare life-threatening hyperinflammatory syndrome in which early mortality remains high in patients with HLH. Methods: We retrospectively collected the medical records of all pediatric patients diagnosed with HLH at the West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University between January 2014 and December 2020. Collect demographic, laboratory, clinical, genetic profiles, treatment information and perform statistical analysis from records. Risk factors for death 30 days after admission were evaluated using a multivariable logistic regression model. Results: A total of 110 pediatric HLH patients were enrolled. The median age of patients was 44 months (IQR 23-100.5) and 62 (56.4%) in males. The 30-day mortality rate for admission to this cohort was 34 (30.9%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that heart failure (OR = 13.389, 95% CI, 1.671-107.256, p = 0.015) and hypoproteinemia (OR = 4.841, 95% CI, 1.282-18.288, p = 0.020) were associated with increased early mortality in children with HLH. Conclusions: These identified risk factors may help clinicians stratify patients with HLH and develop targeted treatment strategies. More research is needed to explore the best treatment strategies for patients with HLH to reduce early mortality in patients with HLH.

OBJECTIVES: To study the value of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in detecting intracranial Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection in children with hemophagocytic syndrome (HPS) with central nervous system involvement. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed for the cerebrospinal fluid mNGS results of 30 HPS children with central nervous system involvement, which were compared with the results of cerebrospinal fluid EBV-DNA detection and serum EBV antibody profile. The change in serum EBV-DNA copy number after treatment was used to evaluate the efficacy of targeted therapy. RESULTS: The positive rate of EBV in cerebrospinal fluid determined by mNGS was significantly higher than that of EBV-DNA in cerebrospinal fluid (100% vs 10%, P<0.001) and had no significant difference from the positive rate of serum EBV antibody profile (100% vs 93%, P>0.05). The median number of sequences determined by mNGS was 2 400, and serum EBV-DNA copy number before treatment was moderately positively correlated with the number of EBV sequences (rs=0.693, P<0.001). The multiple linear regression analysis showed that the number of sequences determined by mNGS in cerebrospinal fluid increased with the increase in serum EBV-DNA copy number before treatment (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: EBV-associated HPS often results in EBV-infected viral encephalitis, and mNGS can significantly increase the detection rate of EBV in cerebrospinal fluid, which may help with clinical diagnosis.

Background: Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines regarding high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) use for respiratory support in critically ill children are lacking. Therefore, we aimed to determine the risk factors for early HFNC failure to reduce the failure rate and prevent adverse consequences of HFNC failure in children with acute respiratory dysfunction. Methods: Demographic and laboratory data were compared among patients, admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit between January 2017 and December 2018, who were included in a retrospective cohort study. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to determine risk factors for eventual entry into the predictive model for early HFNC failure and to perform an external validation study in a prospective observational cohort study from January to February 2019. Further, the association of clinical indices and trends pre- and post-treatment with HFNC treatment success or failure in these patients was dynamically observed. Results: In total, 348 pediatric patients were included, of these 282 (81.0%) were included in the retrospective cohort study; HFNC success was observed in 182 patients (64.5%), HFNC 0-24 h failure in 74 patients (26.2%), and HFNC 24-48 h failure in 26 patients (9.2%). HFNC 24 h failure was significantly associated with the pediatric risk of mortality (PRISM) III score [odds ratio, 1.391; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.249-1.550], arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide-to-arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaCO2/PaO2) ratio (odds ratio, 38.397; 95% CI: 6.410-230.013), and respiratory rate-oxygenation (ROX) index (odds ratio, 0.751; 95% CI: 0.616-0.915). The discriminating cutoff point for the new scoring system based on the three risk factors for HFNC 24 h failure was ≥ 2.0 points, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.794 (95% CI, 0.729-0.859, P < 0.001), sensitivity of 68%, and specificity of 79%; similar values were noted on applying the model to the prospective observational cohort comprising 66 patients (AUC = 0.717, 95% CI, 0.675-0.758, sensitivity 83%, specificity 44%, P = 0.009). In this prospective cohort, 11 patients with HFNC failure had an upward trend in PaCO2/PaO2 ratio and downward trends in respiratory failure index (P/F ratio) and ROX index; however, opposite directions of change were observed in 55 patients with HFNC success. Furthermore, the fractional changes (FCs) in PaCO2/PaO2 ratio, P/F ratio, percutaneous oxygen saturation-to-fraction of inspired oxygen (S/F) ratio, and ROX index at 2 h post-HFNC therapy onset were statistically significant between the two groups (all, P < 0.05). Conclusion: In the pediatric patients with acute respiratory insufficiency, pre-treatment PRISM III score, PaCO2/PaO2 ratio, and ROX index were risk factors for HFNC 24 h failure, and the direction and magnitude of changes in the PaCO2/PaO2 ratio, P/F ratio, and ROX index before and 2 h after HFNC treatment were warning indicators for HFNC 24 h failure. Further close monitoring should be considered for patients with these conditions.

Introduction: Drug-related problems (DRPs) refer to events or circumstances involving drug therapy that actually or potentially interfere with desired health outcomes. DRPs might be severe for children with chronic diseases managed at primary health care institutions, but the relevant research is scarce. Objective: In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to explore the prevalence, types, causes, and influencing factors of DRPs in children with chronic diseases in a Chinese primary health care institution. Methods: We recruited children with chronic diseases who visited the pediatric outpatient department in a primary health care institution from July 1 to 12 October 2021. Clinical pharmacists identified DRPs through medication therapy reviews, classified the types and causes of DRPs, and distinguished the manifested DRPs that affected the outcome and potential DRPs that were going to affect the outcome. Results: A total of 188 children with chronic diseases was included, and 584 DRPs were identified in 89.89% of participants. The most common type of DRPs was "treatment effectiveness" (a manifested problem or potential problem with the effect of the pharmacotherapy; 83.56%), of which 67.29% were potential DRPs. The second common type was "treatment safety" (patient suffers or could suffer from an adverse drug event; 14.21%), of which 89.16% were potential DRPs. The most common cause of DRPs was related to the process of use (42.24%), such as "patient uses/takes less drug than prescribed or does not take the drug at all," "patient stores drug inappropriately," and "patient administers/uses the drug in a wrong way." The second common cause was related to the process of dispensing (29.83%), such as "necessary information not provided or incorrect advice provided" and "prescribed drug is not available." The third common cause was related to the process of prescribing (26.21%), such as "drug dose is too low" and "no or incomplete drug treatment despite an existing indication." The number of combined medications was an influencing factor for the frequency of DRPs (p < 0.05). Conclusion: This cross-sectional study showed that the current situation regarding DRPs among children with chronic diseases managed in the primary health care institution was serious. The types of DRPs were mainly related to treatment effectiveness, and improper usage of medications was one of the main causes of DRPs. The number of combined drugs was the influencing factor for the frequency of DRPs. In the future, pharmacists should consider formulating pharmaceutical intervention strategies for this specific group according to the characteristics of DRPs.

Approximately 90% of the cholesterol content of the body is derived from de novo synthesis and the enterohepatic circulation. As numerous studies have shown previously, one egg per day intake has little impact of cholesterol balance in human body. Therefore, this study assumed that intake of up two eggs a day has little effect on biomarkers of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) risk in Chinese young adults. With the increase in egg intake, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and choline all increased among all the groups as the study progressed from autumn to winter (p < .05). However, there were no differences in the plasma triglycerides, LDL-C/HDL-C ratio, glucose, liver enzymes, C-reactive protein, and urinary microalbumin during the diet periods. Subjects who ate eggs at breakfast felt less hungry and more satisfied, which were relative with decreased fasting plasma ghrelin level (p < .05). Furthermore, egg-derived cholesterol appeared to upregulate the mRNA levels of low-density lipoprotein receptor and lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase, and downregulate cholesteryl ester transfer protein and flavin-containing monooxygenase 3 mRNA levels in isolated peripheral blood mononuclear cells. These results demonstrate that intake of up to two eggs a day had little effect on biomarkers of CVDs in young, healthy Chinese college students and provided useful evidence for the dietary guidelines regarding egg consumption.

Developing efficient energy storage and conversion applications is vital to address fossil energy depletion and global warming. Li-O2 batteries are one of the most promising devices because of their ultra-high energy density. To overcome their practical difficulties including low specific capacities, high overpotentials, limited rate capability and poor cycle stability, an intensive search for highly efficient electrocatalysts has been performed. Recently, it has been reported that heterostructured catalysts exhibit significantly enhanced activities toward the oxygen reduction reaction and oxygen evolution reaction, and their excellent performance is not only related to the catalyst materials themselves but also the special hetero-interfaces. Herein, an overview focused on the electrocatalytic functions of heterostructured catalysts for non-aqueous Li-O2 batteries is presented by summarizing recent research progress. Reduction mechanisms of Li-O2 batteries are first introduced, followed by a detailed discussion on the typical performance enhancement mechanisms of the heterostructured catalysts with different phases and heterointerfaces, and the various heterostructured catalysts applied in Li-O2 batteries are also intensively discussed. Finally, the existing problems and development perspectives on the heterostructure applications are presented.

Objective: To explore the treatment outcome of the strategy of early extubation and then switching to non-invasive mechanical ventilation in children with acute respiratory failure, and the safety and feasibility of using the strategy to replace traditional methods. Methods: A total of 102 children, aged between 1 month to 14 years old, who had acute respiratory failure and were admitted to the pediatric ICU of West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University between January 2019 and December 2020 were enrolled and randomly assigned to treatment group 1 (n=55) and treatment group 2 (n=47). In addition, 53 children who had the same condition in the 12 month prior to the beginning of the study were included in the control group. In the two treatment groups, the patients were extubated first, and then weaned off the ventilator. In group 1, when the patient met the invasive-non-invasive switching criteria, the tracheal tube was pulled out and non-invasive bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) ventilation was used for respiratory support. In group 2, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy was used for respiratory support. The traditional progressive weaning method was adopted for the control group (extubing and weaning were performed at the same time). The incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) during the period of tracheal intubation was compared and the mortality of the two groups was evaluated from the point when the patients were recruited. At the time of extubation in the treatment groups and extubation plus weaning in the control group, the pressure support levels, or PC above PEEP, intubation time, sequential time (between 2 treatment groups only), weaning failure rate, and the incidence of laryngeal edema and nasal pressure ulcer were compared. Results: The subjects of the study were predominantly infants (93 cases, 60%) and young children (31 cases, 20%). Among the 155 cases, 82 (53%) were male. There was no statistical difference in age distribution or gender among the groups. There was no significant difference in the clinical indicators among the three groups before tracheal intubation. At the time of extubation, the PC above PEEP in the two treatment groups was higher than that in the control group, and higher in group 1 than that of group 2, the difference being statistically significant (P<0.05). The intubation time of the two treatment groups was shorter than that of the control group, and shorter in group 1 than that of group 2 (P<0.05). The sequential time of group 2 was shorter than that of group 1 (P<0.05). The extubation failure rate and the incidence of VAP in the two treatment groups were lower than those in the control group, and there was no statistically significant difference between the two treatment groups. The incidence of nasal pressure ulcers in group 1 was higher than that in the other two groups (P<0.05). There was 1 death in treatment group 1, and no deaths in treatment group 2 or the control group. There was no significant difference in mortality or the incidence of laryngeal edema after extubation in the three groups. Conclusion: Early extubation and then switching to non-invasive mechanical ventilation can be well tolerated by the patients, and can be used in clinical practice as an effective weaning method for children with acute respiratory failure.

Developing an excellent bifunctional catalyst is essential for the commercial application of Li-O2 batteries. Heterostructures exhibit great application potential in the field of energy catalysis because of the accelerated charge transfer and increased active sites on their surfaces. In this work, CoS2 nanoparticles decorated on MoS2 nanorods are constructed and act as a superior cathode catalyst for Li-O2 batteries. Coupling MoS2 and CoS2 can not only synergistically enhance their electrical conductivity and electrochemical activity, but also promote the heteroepitaxial growth of discharge products on the heterojunction interfaces, thus delivering high discharge capacity, stable cycle performance, and good rate capability.
